How to care for your Fittonia

Fittonia (Nerve Plant) is a tropical, low-growing plant characterized by vibrant, vein-patterned leaves, perfect for humid, brightly lit spots or enclosed terrariums.

Key Fittonia Care Requirements

Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light (dappled shade). Direct sun will burn leaves;
too little light reduces colour vibrancy.

Watering: Keep soil consistently moist. Water the plant every 3-4 days, make sure to water the soil not the leaves. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. They will "faint" if they become too dry but recover quickly.

Humidity: Needs high humidity. Ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, or in a terrarium. Use a
pebble tray or mist frequently.

Soil: Use a well-draining, peat-free houseplant compost.

Temperature: avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.

Fertilizer: Feed with a half-strength liquid fertilizer once every two to three months.

Pruning: Trim stems to maintain a bushy, compact shape and remove long, leggy growth.

Toxicity: Non-toxic and safe for pets. 

Common Issues

Drooping/Wilted: Usually a sign of underwatering. Give it a thorough drink.

Yellow Leaves: Usually indicates overwatering or waterlogged soil, which can lead to root rot.

Brown/Crispy Edges: Often a sign of low humidity or direct sun exposure.
